Seth puts the “ridiculous” in radiculopathy

It’s been a pretty hectic couple of weeks. Made more exciting by the goddamned herniated disc in my cervical spine. I now know more than I ever wanted to know about cervical anatomy, mainly due to the fact that after nearly 15 years on the road, I woke up one morning and couldn’t look or turn my head left. I hate it when that happens!Seth puts the “ridiculous” in radiculopathy

So I jumped feet first into the deep end of Oxford’s maze of reimbursements, starting at the bottom rung of the ladder (the freaking referral) and making my way to a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor, then to an MRI (only after waiting the required two days for approval while I sacrificed a goat to the Oxford Gods), then to physical therapy, then to a second opinion, this time entirely out of network, and to another physical therapist, equally out of said network. (Oh, and toss in a few prescription drugs into the mix, also needing prior authorization and falling on a weekend day which made a full retail purchase necessary. The pharmacy counter is officially more expensive than

the service department at the car dealership, by the way. But that’s for another day.)

All for a little cervical radiculopathy.

Bottom line: I gotta fix this immediately, because I can’t work out, I want to be able to move my neck, and I am tired of feeling like a bag of potatoes that falls apart every other day.

Mind over matter, right?
