What don't you tell your doctor about how you manage pain?
That I double up on my antiinflammatories and occasionally take a muscle relaxant to help me ge a good nights sleep.
What could George Bush do personally to make the lives of arthritics better?
Get out of office???
Seriously, get the price of medications under control. Allow us (without smuggling) to bring in meds from other countries, after all it is our bodies. Of course increase the amount of monies for resarch, even for accurate diagnostic tests, let alone a cure or long time fix.
What could the Arthritis Foundation do?
I know they are doing a lot in the way of bringing our cause to the forefront, but there has to be some other ways to let the powers know that these illnesses/diseases is not going away, they will eventaully have some contact with arthritis + in their lives, either themselves or through family members. It strikes everyone of us.
Have you ever used your arthritis to gain an unfair advantage?
Not really. I try to work where there are no steps and when I do I take my time, does that count. I do, because of other problems, have a handicapped car plaque, which I do not use, except when in crisis. I would say basically NO.
When's the last time you felt humiliated because of your arthritis?
Someone could not understand why I would not participate in a few mile walk for cancer. I did start the walk but has to stop for a while to rest and picked up with my group on their way back. The group was fine, as they were family and friends, but strangers were making comments. This seemed so out of place, being that it was a walk for another illness (which had struck my family) and compassion would have been the correct emotion, not ridicule. Just because no one sees my legs and the scars and other physical quirks, does not mean that I do not care and take the lazy way out of activities.
