Online Gout Survey Seeking Participants
Through its Web initiative, Boston University is asking gout patients to answer a series of questions -- all with the aim of identifying risk factors for recurrent gout flares.
B.U. has already published some articles about risk factors such as alcohol consumption and diuretics (available on their study Web site). They are further increasing the study's enrollment in order to study additional risk factors.
This NIH-funded study is observational rather than a clinical trial -- meaning they don't offer any medications.
The entire study is conducted online, with enrollment open to people with gout from all over the United States.
