Orencia

Posted by VickiSue at May 20. 2009

I'm just ending an 9 month cycle of Orencia.  I don't really think it helped me much at all. I used it in conjunction with MTX and Plaquenil.  I would get so annoyed at the Orencia commercials.  If I had to hear that woman say "Oh yes I can!" one more time I was going to throw something at the TV! Then I would think maybe I'm just expecting too much. But then really-I just want to be able to fasten my bra. Button a button. tie my own shoes.  Zip my zipper. I can do those things now (some of the time!) but I want to do it without it hurting so much.  We're getting ready to switch over to Humira. Maybe things will improve.  If the Orencia had worked, I might still have a job.

Vickie,

I have to say the samething right now about Enbrel, it was working wonders until I had to stop for 4  weeks for the surgery. Now I have more flares and problems than before I started.  I hope the Humira works for you. I see doc on June 9th will let you all know.

Well Rheumy is putting me on Orencia, he also stated with the amoutn of pain and swelling I have going on. It is causing extreme weakness in my wrists and ankles if the Orcenia doesn't work in 6 months he is recommending SSDI.  Guess there is my decision.

He is also wondering if these chest pains I am having is really my gallbladder even though the other doctors say it should come out.  He thinks it is the lining of my lungs being affected by the RA.  So time will tell, lets do the Gallbladder surger and see what happens I guess.

Anyone else have problems with their lungs with the RA?  I know it isn't normal except for the nodules on the lungs..  Let me know THanks
