basal joint arthroplasty
On April 7th I has a basal joint arthroplasty on my left hand. The basal joint is the joint below the thumb just above the wrist. Osteoarthritis caused the joint to deteriorate. 2 weeks in a soft cast, 2 weeks in a hard cast, 2 weeks in a splint and now a short splint and lots of hand therapy. It's doing better than I thought. I was back to work in 2 weeks. I still cannot operate the seat belt when I am the passenger, but at least I can still drive.
When I have my right hand done (probably next year) I won't be able to drive for a few months.
Any have this surgery?
