What works for you?

Posted by ptia at May 28. 2009

Hi everyone! I am new to CR and so glad I FINALLY looked up this site.

I wanted to share what works for me and also ask what seems to work for everyone else. I am very skeptical of the "conventional medicine" and it was my last resort a couple of years ago. My RA has improved so much and I continue with my holistic ways on top of my drugs. As far as drugs go, I take the three meds together- hydroxychlor..., sulpha... and methotrexate. The first two have very long names. They have really done wonders for me. On top of those, I eat a fairly clean diet and get massages regularly. One thing that I stopped doing and am getting back into is working out. I noticed an increase in symptoms when I stopped working out. I also make sure I surround myself by people who are optimistic and supportive- HUGE help!

hi there! welcome, I'm glad you found us!!

I also am a fan of combining types of therapies. I definitely take a lot more regular medicine than I ever would have imagined I would, but I have to say it has absolutely changed my life, and as much as I don't like taking it, I'm grateful.

In addition to that, I stay aware from artificial sweetners (make me flare), don't eat much meat and try to eat as healthy as I can, work out as much as the RA will let me, and take fish oil. I think its a good compromise!

Ptia,

Welcome to CJ this is a great site.  Continuing both Medicines as well as alternatve therapies is a good practice for RA and other AutoImmune diseases.  Kate is right most of us still try to work out as much as our RA will allow us too.. This all depends on how advanced (aggressive) the RA is with us as individuals.

lately I have been just down right miserable with mine that is for another day.

We look forward to your postings andadditional questions and responses.

Tess
